had some recent success using strange baits! notably hair riged grapes and hair rigged raisins, give it a go the carp wont have seen them before!

hello fishfish,
i have been wanting to do the same lately, specifically trying the baits mentioned by Isaac Walton but i havent had time. what i have done is mess around with the herb/spice cupboard and luncheon meat. the latest combo that has been sending the fish wild is rough cut luncheon meat (bacon grill) with sesame oil and chinese five spice. i couldnt stop catching when everyone else was blanking, everyone was staring as i lost a fish while on the phone to a client. thought i was going to get lynched.
what has also been working well are what i call 'bread-boilies'. a local fishery near me has banned boiles and while i was on the phone (again) to another client i began to kneed a piece of bread i was about to loose feed in my hand as i spoke on the phone. after the call i realised that what i had in my hand was essentially a tough boile of bread paste which could be cast again and again and didnt break the fishery rules. as well as being dirt cheap they also trap a bit of air for pop-up qualities and can take on any flavour or colour. i have been using cinnamon, tandoori, 5 spice and also brown bread with honey (from walton) which the bream seem to love. i pre-roll the boilies but keep a lump of dough/paste for loose feeding and rolling into different sizes.
i'm really into using worms as well. i'm an archaeologist by trade and work all over the country collecting my worms from site as i go. it seems to me that worms from some parts of the country work better than others. freakily, the worms (huge) that i collect from graveyards are far superior as bait.
i like your raisin idea, have you tried soaking in any liquers or anything like that?
give the bread boilie thing a go mate
cheers
